Keep it Classic. Black, Grey, and White.
If all else fails, and you feel like everything looks terrible on you, stick with shades of grey for an outfit. Had too much to drink last night? Shades of Grey. Kids getting spaghetti on everything you own? Shades of grey. Haven't had time to wash your hair? You guessed it, shades of grey will save the day. The combination of colors will always look classy and put together. Black and white are classic staples that can last decades. So, if you are looking to make a purchase looking towards the future, stick with some basic shades of grey.

Here I am wearing a diamond patterned black and white dress with a black and grey printed scarf. The vertical pattern on the dress helps elongate the figure as do the subtle vertical stripes of the dark grey tights. Definitely a plus if you're trying to look slimmer or are petite. Different shades of gray are a nice way to be monochrome but not all black.
